Carlos Alberto Tévez is a twenty four year old striker, who is originally from Argentina. He wears the number thirty two shirt for Manchester United, and has been described by football legend Diego Maradona as the ‘Argentine prophet for the 21st century’.
Carlos Tevez began playing football in his native Argentina for Boca Juniors. He played there for four years at youth level, and then three years at adult level. In his time at Boca Juniors (at adult level) he made seventy five appearances and scored twenty five goals. In 2005, Tevez was sold to Corinthians, a Brazilian club, where he made thirty eight appearances and scored twenty five goals in just one season!
After his season at Corinthians, Carlos Tevez was sold to English club West Ham United in a package deal which also included Javier Mascherano, who is now playing at Liverpool. The fee paid by the London club was undisclosed, but the transfer caused many problems, as there was something wrong with the was Carlos Tevez was sold to West Ham. Tevez won the ‘Hammer of the Year’ award in his first and only season at the club after playing fantastically for them, and almost certainly saving the London club from relegation in to the Championship. Tevez was then released by West Ham United, and Manchester United won the striker’s signature, and they signed him permanently in November 2007.
While at Old Trafford, Carlos Tevez has made thirty four appearances in his first season, in which he scored fourteen goals, which was fairly disappointing due to the expectations of all the supporters, but the goals have come at crucial times, including scoring the winner in the Champions League quarter final against AS Roma, as well as other goals which helped Manchester Untied to claim the 2007-08 Premier League title.
At club level, Carlos Tevez has won many awards and trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League: two of the most recognized competitions in club football.
Carlos Tevez has also been reasonably successful at international level, too. His greatest achievement with the Argentina is winning the Olympics, but he has also helped them get to the knock out stages in the 2006 World Cup, and has been a crucial part to their 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign so far. Overall, Carlos Tevez has made thirty five appearances for his country, and scored seven goals in his time playing for them.
