Cristiano Ronaldo Biography

Cristiano Ronaldo Biography

Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro is a twenty three year old winger from Portugal. He can play either the left or right of midfield, centre midfield, or even as a centre forward! The Madeira born player has won several top awards, and has recently been considered as the World’s best player.

Cristiano Ronaldo began his career in his home country of Portugal, playing for CF Andorinha and CD Nacional at youth level, before joining Sporting Lisbon, where he spent six years, all the time being relatively unknown to the rest of the world. It was by chance that he became what he is today: a Sporting Lisbon game against Manchester United, and the players at the Manchester team urged manager Sir Alex Ferguson to buy the talented winger and replace the departed David Beckham.

It was in 2003 that he signed for Manchester United, and he got a reputation as a skilful player, but was the public enemy due to his excessive diving. He has, however, dealt with that problem now, and nobody seems to find fault in him. Cristiano Ronaldo has so far made one hundred and sixty three appearances for Manchester United, scoring a huge sixty six goals, and over forty of those came in the 2007-08 season. Ronaldo also scored Manchester United’s one thousandth goal, as well as scoring in the Champions League final to help Manchester United to win the prestigious trophy.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s career has also shone at international level, and he has made fifty eight caps, scoring twenty one goals in that short time, a remarkable achievement. The winger has suffered much heart ache with Portugal, after losing Euro 2004 in the final, the World Cup 2006 in the semi final, and Euro 2008 in the quarter final, although he always picks himself up again. Ronaldo was, once again, subject to the English hatred after the World Cup in 2006 when he supposedly encouraged the referee to send off Wayne Rooney, but this turned out to be a mere phase, with the fans soon cheering for him one again.

Cristiano Ronaldo has recently been involved in strong talks with him and Real Madrid, sparking off a fascinating argument. Ronaldo wants to leave Old Trafford, but Manchester United want to keep him. The debate is including offers from the Spanish side, including a record one hundred million pound bid for Ronaldo, and they are also offering to make him the best paid player in the world.
