Patrice Evra was born in Senegal in May of 1981. At a very early age, he and his family immigrated to France. Unbelievably, Patrice Evra has twenty five siblings, although two of them sadly passed away. Evra currently plays as a left back, wearing the number three shirt for the Red Devils.
Patrice Evra began his playing career at famous French side, Paris Saint-German. He played there for a number of years at youth level as a striker, before moving clubs to a small Italian side called Marsala. He spent a year there playing at senior level, making twenty four appearances and scoring four goals. After the year, he moved to another Italian club, Monza, where he had a difficult and disappointing season, making only three appearances.
The talented player then moved back to France to play for Nice. For his first few games at the Ligue 2 club he played as striker, but due to an injury crisis he was forced to play at left back, although the decision proved to be a successful one, as Evra went on to play forty games for the club, scoring just one goal in the two seasons he spent there, and judging by his goal scoring record, it’s probably a good job he moved in to defence!
After playing for OGC Nice, Patrice Evra moved to AS Monaco, where he had a very successful reign, playing one hundred and twenty games over a four year period, but it was in 2006 when English clubs started showing an interest in Evra, with several big clubs chasing his signature, but it was Manchester United who got the left back, paying around five and a half million pounds for him.
In his three years at Manchester United so far, the talented left back has made ninety seven appearances and scored two goals. So far, Patrice Evra has won five major trophies with the English club, including two Premier League titles, a Champions League title, a League Cup and a Community Shield, but he is yet to win an FA Cup with the club.
Internationally, Patrice Evra plays for France, even though he was born in Senegal. He has played thirteen games since his international debut in 2004, including playing for the French in the recent Euro 2008 competition, although his efforts failed to make a real impact, and France were knocked out of the competition in the group stages.
