Ryan Giggs is a thirty four year old midfielder, who can play either on the left or right side of midfield, or in a holding attacker role. He wears the number eleven shirt for Manchester United, and has only ever received a red card once, and that was at international level while playing for Wales.
Ryan Giggs is considered as a veteran of football, playing adult football for over eighteen years. Ryan Giggs started his playing career for Manchester City when he was very young, even though he is originally from Wales. It wasn’t long before he was scouted by Manchester United, where he spent three years playing youth football.
At adult level, Ryan Giggs has only ever played for Manchester United at club level. He has spent a total of twenty one years at the club, the majority of that time being at adult football. During his time at Old Trafford, he has made seven hundred and fifty nine appearances for the club, five hundred and thirty five of those being in the league. In his time playing for the adult team at Manchester United, Ryan Giggs has scored one hundred and forty four goals, a remarkable achievement considering he is primarily a midfielder. Ryan Giggs has also captained Manchester United many times, although usually this is when the primary captain can’t play. Unfortunately for Ryan Giggs, he is now being played less and less at Manchester United due to new, younger midfielders coming in to the side, but there are no claims that Ryan Giggs is looking for another club.
Ryan Giggs has won many trophies with Manchester United, including ten Premier League titles, four FA Cups, one FA Youth Cup, two Football League Cups, six FA Community Shields, two Champions League Titles, one UEFA Super Cup and an Intercontinental Cup. Ryan Giggs has enjoyed many individual honours as well, including receiving an OBE as well as nearly thirty awards, and he has also broken many records.
Giggs’ international career has also been extremely successful, too, as he has made sixty four appearances for his native Wales, scoring thirteen goals and captaining Wales from 2004 until 2007. Ryan Giggs was always frustrated at his national side though, as they never successfully qualified for any European Championship or World Cup when Ryan Giggs was eligible to play. Despite all of his appearances and goals for his country, Ryan Giggs retired from international football in 2007.
